Emergency first aid is the most popular course offered through workplace approved and Lifesaving Society. It is a basic first aid course that includes basic CPR level “A”. At some locations candidates can opt for a higher level CPR such as CPR level “C”. Emergency first aid is a 8 hour course that is typically taught within one day. Candidates learn basic first aid and CPR rescues on adult victims. First aid components in the course include:
- Breath Emergencies
- Deadly Bleeding
- Wound Management / Treatment
- Respiratory Emergencies
- Heart Attack
- Transient Ischemic Attacks
Re-Certifications are available for this course. Re-certifications include re-certification in CPR and are significantly cheaper and shorter than the full course. Emergency First Aid re-certifications cost approximately 60.00 dollars and take anywhere from 4 to 6 hours to complete.

CPR level “C” is the most popular stand alone CPR course offered by the major first aid and CPR providers. This course involves rescuing adult, child and infant victims that are non-breathing. Course content also includes the use of automated external defibrillators (AED). Upon successful completion of the course candidates will receive a workplace approved or Lifesaving Society CPR level “C” and AED certificate that is valid for 3 years. Health care provider CPR is the highest level of stand alone CPR offered through workplace approved, Lifesaving Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation and St. Johns Ambulance. This CPR course incorporates all of the CPR taught in the lower levels of CPR including CPR “A”, “B” and “C”. Candidates will learn to use a AED and understand how to do CPR with a bag valve mask and with trained back up. This CPR involves pulse checks and respiration only CPR. Re-certifications are available for this course. CPR HCP re-certs are significantly cheaper and significantly shorter than full courses. Register for First Aid Courses
First Aid courses are offered through several major providers including workplace approved and Lifesaving Society. The standards for CPR are set by the International Liasion Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR). First Aid courses include: Standard first aid and CPR, emergency first aid and CPR, childcare first aid and CPR and workplace emergency first aid (OFA 1 equivalent). Every first aid course offered through workplace approved and Lifesaving Society includes CPR and AED training. At some locations candidates can select the level of CPR to go along with the first aid training. Re-certifications are available for the majority of the first aid courses previously mentioned. Re-cert courses are shorter and cheaper than original courses.
Register for Childcare First Aid Course
Childcare first aid courses are offered exclusively through St Mark James. Emergency childcare first aid is a 8 hour course that includes CPR level “B” and AED training. Standard childcare first aid is a 16 hour course that includes CPR level “B” and AED training. Candidates can not opt for any other level of CPR when taking a childcare first aid course. Re-certifications are not available for either childcare first aid course. Candidates must re-take the course to maintain certification. Upon successful completion of the course candidates will receive a workplace approved Childcare first aid and CPR “B” and AED certificate that is valid for 3 years. The Lifesaving Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, and St. Johns Ambulance do not have a equivalent course to workplace approved childcare first aid program.

St Mark James and Lifesaving Society couple all of their first aid courses with CPR training.
